It’s a tradition that added to the excitement of a great rivalry, but never underestimate a bureaucrat’s ability to squash good fun. UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel and USC coach Pete Carroll learned at a Pac-10 meeting last Thursday that it’s unlikely the teams will both wear home jerseys when they meet at the Rose Bowl Dec. 6. They were informed that both teams would have to sacrifice a first and second-half timeout.
“In a game that important, it’s tough to give one up in the second half,” Neuheisel said.
