  • The offensive line is still very much a puzzle that has not been put together. Right tackle Nate Chandler (tuf toe) returned to practice, shifting Nick Ekbatani to left guard to compete with Darius Savage, with Scott Glicksburg competing with Sonny Tevaga at right guard. The Bruins’ line again struggled throughout its morning workout.  ”We keep mixing combinations to find our best five,” Coach Neuheisel said. ”Defense certainly had their way today.”

  • Neuheisel on his team gaining just 48 rushing yards on 18 carries during the scrimmage: “Our running game was stifled. But we didn’t try a whole bunch,” he said, noting Kahlil Bell had just one carry.
  • Receiver Dominique Johnson (hip) and defensive end Kory Bosworth (ankle) returned to practice. Tight end Logan Paulsen, linebacker Reggie Carter, and safeties E.J. Woods and Glenn Love, who all sat out the scrimmage because of concussion symptoms, did not practice today. Neuheisel said he expects each of them to return Tuesday without contact and go full-contact Wednesday.
