Safety E.J. Woods had been somewhat of a loose cannon since he arrived at UCLA. Now he is just loose.
UCLA officials confirmed Woods, the heralded recruit who redshirted all of last season because of academic issues, has been released by the school. He is said to be considering a transfer to a local junior college.
Woods, who has been charged with six misdemeanor counts of battery, has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for July 31.
Offensive lineman Sonny Tevaga, who started the first two games of 2008 before being benched and was not expected to play much this season, is also transferring.
Six players have now left UCLA since the end of spring camp.
