Football: Abbott, Price compete to replace Viney

September 16th, 2009, 8:06 pm · 2 Comments · posted by Al Balderas, staff writer

The competition to replace suspended cornerback Courtney Viney is between redshirt freshman Andrew Abbott (Mater Dei), and true freshman Sheldon Price.

“We’re working with both of them and have confidence with both of them,” UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said. “They’re old greybeards now. They’ve been here for two whole games.”

Viney, along with teammates Milton Knox, Randall Carroll and Morrell Presley, were suspended for one game for violation of team rules.

I believe Abbotts seen more playing time so far, however, I hope we get a look at Price. He’s a very talented athelete.

It’s nice to see a walk on (Abbott) possibly starting and getting a scholarship for next season.
