Less than two weeks ago freshman receiver Randall Carroll took to Twitter to disparage the UCLA football team and question the coaches’ personnel decisions. Posts on the Facebook page belonging to Brian Theriot, the father of seldom-used reserve fullback Trevor Theriot, might have taken it a bit further.
Here’s what was posted on his page Saturday evening:
“The sad state of UCLA football,” Theriot’s page read. “My gosh…..I have never seen more misuse of talent and a greater degree of offensive stagnancy on play calling and use of personnel….we have the players.
”
And here are two posts from Monday morning:
“UCLA under Coach Rick (Neuheisel)….is horrible. Wayne Moses the running back coach is horrible. The sets are Pop Warner in movement, motion, and slots. I mean a Pop Warner type offense that Tim Tebow would laugh at. UCLA is playing with great athletes but giving great athletes boys and girls club sets. Norm Chow and Wayne Moses are old school and gone.
“I have decided to just show up and Coach at UCLA Spaulding Field today. I am going to just step out of the ‘parents’ section of the stands and coach the backfield. I am going to pick (Kevin) Prince as my starter and I am going with (Johnathan) Franklin/(Derrick) Coleman tail(back) and Theriot at fullback.”
Too bad UCLA doesn’t practice on Mondays. Stay tuned.

More from the UCLA blog:
Yup
What an embarrassment Theriot’s dad is…
Trevor deserves better than this from his dad. He has no business interferring with Trevors’ football career other than enjoying every minute of his football stay at Ucla.
If only this guy was coaching and his son was starting…UCLA would be undefeated!
Yeah, right.

wow brian thats taking the bull by the horns, how are you doing haven’t seen you since you guys sold the house. i am the guy who rides by that house on the yellow bike and i used to sell vitalyte.
Wow.. and I thought I was too invloved in my childrens life
Losing, unfortunately, makes everything and everyone suspect. I am a bit surprized that Trevor Theriott hasn’t had more playing opportunities. In every program someone suffers and losing brings out frustration in everyone. I hope that UCLA steamrolls Washington and everyone who hasn’t gotten much playing time gets some. UCLA has a great bunch of player’s and each wants to contribute so badly.
Don’t feel too bad. Your loss was overshadowed by the embarrassing loss by USC in Eugene.
Just curious what you really think of Chow and his schemes. Do you really want him back next year? Do you try to find a way to keep him on staff and pay him? Or move on with a next generation coach?
“Misuse of talent” …lol…I find it hilarouis Adam would post this two days after SC gets waxed in Eugene. According to Scout, SC has twenty six 5 star and countless 4 star players on their roster and they get blown out in Eugene 47-20. SC has more 5 star players than the rest of the conference combined and by a good margin.
Has there ever been a bigger collection of 5 star players to get blown out by 27 points in a game? That has to be a record for “misuse of talent.”
Agreed!, Pete is car salesmen 101. Can recruit like Cal Worthington can
sell cars…….until the wheels start falling off. Pete’s being exposed for what he/they are, an assemblence of talent, only. Like a Pop Warner
team from the inner city. Talented as get out, but poorly coached.

Brian Theriot’s comments do not surprise me or anyone who knows him. On the old OC Varsity high school board he was known as the ultimate “stage” parent who “hyped” his kid from his playing days at Newport Harbor to the indignity of his son not receiving a scholarship to UCLA, to his early days as a walk on football player at UCLA.
In his son’s defense, Trevor has worked his butt off and earned a scholarship, he even became a starter for a period of time, and unfortunately suffered a severe knee injury. Trevor has worked his way back after surgery and is known as a very hard worker. Unfortunately he has had too live down his father’s actions during his football career.
Max Cady - shame on you.
Best of luck to Trevor as he keeps working toward his dream of playing in the NFL. His work ethic and determination will carry him far in life.
WHAT A LOSER!! They use to say that about our hawkeye coaches, old school……look what’s happening….9-0 baby!!! This guy needs to get a life.

I for one definitely, unequivicably want C. Chow to return. I don’t know how the financial aspects can be addressed but as long as he wants to coach the offense and there are no other issues that prevent it, I hope he returns.
Don’t forget, besides being a winner in developing QB’s, he’s an awesome recruiter, i.e., Sua-Filo; Hasiak and just missing on a couple of 5 stars. He trying to get Heimuli, Fehoko, Acuna and others for this years commits. Had Carroll’s ego not got in the way, which doesn’t exist with C. Neuheisel, SC’s hold on the PAC 10 and BCS ratings would not be as tenuous as it is.
The times, they are a changin. UCLA is almost at a point where the other LA team will be an afterthought and they can go back to doing whatever they did in the 90’s when UCLA put 8 straight on them.
What the heck is this doing on a newspapers blog? This doesn’t even belong on a fan site forum. What happened to actual journalism? Why don’t you post every gripe from every malcontent? This is pathetic.
Yes, time will tell, the next couple of games are going to be great team wins for UCLA…2010 will be very exciting for the fans and the bowl bound Bruins.
You tell me about Chow! He is the best QB coach and he has a tough job and that is to teach guys how to play Division One ball.
My son was a really good baseball guy growing up. We played a lot catch but I did not coach him or critic him and he was happy. He’s going the same thing with his son. I did one great thing in my life…let my boy grow into a man.
These comments are so typical of the little gutties. Instead of looking at their own program and its short comings, they continuously look across town. I guess things are so far gone over there that an SC loss takes the place of the Bruins winning.
Just like an SC poster. Comes to a UCLA post to vent and shows his mental acumen by accusing UCLA of the very thing his post implies.
Or did I get it wrong UCLA_can’t play, it was SC 47, OU 20, not the other way around. Oh my, your looking across town. Hope things aren’t so far gone over there that a UCLA loss takes the place of the Trojan’s winning.
For the record, UCLA is happy with Coach Nueheisel and Coach Chow and so are real UCLA fans and frankly I personally prefer them over sc coaches except one, a real Bruin that I hope will reconsider his position if offered the DC position at UCLA, where his heritage was and still remains.
what the hell? very pathetic BT. trevor, at least its your last year.
Theriot’s father left a message on “Bruingold.com” saying that his facebook was HACKED 3 times. He also asked the OCREGISTER to take off this garbage.
Why do you, Mr. Maya, not verify anything by just calling up Mr. Theriot and ask if everything stated is true?
What did they teach you in school? How did you get this job if you can’t follow the most basic of protocols?
ucla football has lost five straight games. they are 0-5 in the pac-10. let the theriot man speak his mind. he’s heard the same story from the ucla coaches for ten years. every ucla coach says they are a young team and getting better. the only problem is that the other teams are getter better faster. it’s all relative!
Wow, this isn’t high school Theriot. Everyone knows you did it. Even your son.
