Sources have told me that center Josh Smith (Kentwood High School/Covington, Wash.) has given a verbal committment to play for the Bruins.

Smith earned a five-star rating from rivals.com, and is among ESPN.com’s top 100.

The 6-10, 270-pound senior had garnered interest from several of the nation’s top collegiate programs including Duke, Gonzaga, Kentucky, Louisville, Texas and Kansas.

He narrowed his choices to UCLA and Washington early last month, following a visit to the Westwood campus.
I am trying to contact Smith and will have more once I reach him.
